The Goal. To convince the state’s gaming commission to remove its ban on the use of semiautomatic rifles for big game hunting in Pennsylvania.

The Problem. The state of Pennsylvania is one of the last two states to still outlaw the use of semiautomatic rifles for big game hunting. A small fraction of the state’s hunting population responded to a survey a couple of years ago and, soon after that, the ban on semiautomatic rifles for game hunting was enforced. It was feared that the use of such weapons would result in a rise in the number of hunting accidents. But data gathered by the commission’s fact-finding committee shows no increase in the number of hunting-related accidents in the states where hunting with semiautomatic rifles was permitted. The type of gun has nothing to do with how responsible the gun owner is.

The Solution. Because there is no direct correlation between any perceived increases in the number of hunting-related accidents and the use of semiautomatic firearms, there needs to be an amendment in the gaming commission’s policies. A semiautomatic rifle has minimal recoil, thus preventing accidents caused by hunters being thrown back by the sheer power of their weapon. They also produce cleaner and more humane kills.

Let us show the commission then, that the interest is indeed there. Sign this petition today. For details, please visit: https://www.targettamers.com/
