After a council authorised Christian event was rudely interrupted by a rogue Islamic group who frightened unsuspecting Christians and other visitors to Ilford by airing Allah-hu-Akhbar and other Islamic chanting on a PA, a call is being made for the government to bring in some controls regarding the activities of religious groups in town centres.

We the undersigned call for the UK Government and council to:

Introduce a vetting system for religious groups in town centres.  Groups should not be granted permission to recruit in town centres if they are linked with extremists groups, an extremist ideology or be funded by extremist donors - whatever faith they may be.

Penalise groups who break existing rules such as using amplified sound without permission.

Prevent potential breaches of peace by ensuring that in one's exercise of the right to free speech they do not infringe on the right of others or cause conflict.  With this mind, a first come, first served application process should exist for events that required amplified sound and subsequent groups requiring amplified sound on the same day, in the same town should source an alternative location.
